What OEE measures
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a single percentage that summarizes how well a machine or line is running compared to running perfectly: always available, always at full speed, and always producing good output. Wavac Dashboard reports OEE for a line or machine over a shift or a time window you choose.
How the three factors combine
OEE is the product of three factors, each expressed as a percentage:
OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality
| Factor | What it measures |

| Availability | How much of the scheduled time the machine was actually running, versus stopped for downtime. |
| Performance | How close the machine's actual speed was to its target speed while it was running. |
| Quality | The share of output that met quality requirements, when quality tracking is configured for that machine. |
A drop in any one factor lowers the overall OEE percentage. For example, a machine that runs its full scheduled time at full speed still shows a lower OEE if a meaningful share of its output doesn't meet quality requirements.
Read availability
Availability compares scheduled running time against recorded downtime for the same window:
Availability = (Scheduled time − Downtime) ÷ Scheduled time
Downtime comes from the events you can review in analyze downtime. If your site hasn't configured an active shift schedule, availability uses the full elapsed window instead of a scheduled shift.
Read performance
Performance compares a machine's actual speed against its configured target speed for the same window. Running at or above target speed keeps performance at 100%; running slower reduces it proportionally.
Read quality
Quality reflects the share of good output for machines where quality tracking is configured. If a machine doesn't have quality tracking configured, Dashboard treats quality as 100% so it doesn't penalize OEE for a metric the machine isn't reporting.
When a value is unavailable
Dashboard shows OEE or performance as unavailable rather than showing a misleading number when a machine's speed target or quality configuration isn't set up yet. Ask your Wavac account administrator to configure the missing tag mapping or target if you expect a value that isn't appearing.
